Why HL-Box?

I wrote a really simple JavaScript for my website (this one you are in). As some people became curious about the simple effect it produces, they requested it. Then I decided to make it public and distribute it under Mit license. I also wrote a plugin for Joomla! 1.5 and released it under GNU 2.0 license.

HL-box JavaScript

HL-box is a simple javascript (2,6 KB) that highlights parts of your content in a page, darkening with an overlay all the rest. In the standard version it integrates code from Slimbox javascript by Christofe Beyls, very useful to nicely showcase your images.

If you are already using Slimbox or another js to showcase your images, you can get the more compact stand alone release.

HL-box Joomla ® 1.5 plugin

Do you use Joomla 1.5.x? I provide a plugin ready to be installed. It has a lot of parameters you can easily manage to simplify your work. Enabling it is just as easy as writing: {hlbox}. Two versions icluded: the "Slimbox Inside" and the "Stand Alone".

While 40% of raised funds will be used for the maintanance of the site, 60% will be sent to sustain the medical regional aid program of pediatry and cardiac surgery of Emergency in Africa.

In Soba, a small village along the banks of Blue Nile, 20 KM from Khartoum, Emergency opened in April 2007 the Salam Center of Cardiac Surgery, the only structure able to guarantee a free and high level medical support to cardiopathic children and adults from Egypt, Eritrea, Ethiopia, Kenya, Uganda, Democratic Republic of Congo, Central Africa Republic, Chad, Libya.
In this immense region Emergency will build a network of satellite clinics connected to the Salam Center in order to provide basic pediatric medical services, following the example of the pediatric center of Emergency in the refugee camp of Mayo, in Khartoum, which became active in December 2005.
The first centers will be active in the Central Africa Republic, Democratic Republic of Congo, Uganda and other four in Sudan.
Through the regional project of cardiac surgery, Emergency wants to contribute in the building of cooperative relationships between the involved countries, a necessary preface for the peace keeping of an area harassed by war and poverty.
