Until Sept. 13 Perpignan - Town of Perpignan, France

"Photojournalism is dying, photojournalism has died, photojournalism is dead. Welcome to the real world, welcome to 21 years of Visa pour l'Image" is the original slogan that introduces the official website of the event, certainly the most relevant for photojournalism. Attended by the biggest names of the current scene: Steve McCurry, Brenda Ann Kenneally, Pascal Maitre, Brennan Linsley, Miquel Dewever-Plana, Francoise Demulder, Massimo Berruti, Alexandra Avakian, Zalmai, Callie Shell, Walter Astrada and others.

There will be twelve locations selected for the many activities: exhibitions, open air evening screenings, meetings, workshops, portfolio presentations. Seven prizes will also be awarded, including the 2009 Visa d'Or Prize awarded to the best reportages published between September 2008 and August 2009, the Canon Female Photojournalist Award, the 14th CARE Award (Grand Prix) for humanitarian reportages, the best young reporter for the City of Perpignan award dedicated to the youngest photographers and won this year by Massimo Berruti for his reportage on Pakistan, on exhibit at the Visa pour l'Image.
The 2009 catalog of the festival, the remaining copies of the 2008 catalog and the limited special edition collection to mark the 20th anniversary of the festival are all available for purchase throughout the festival.
