The Others
These images are meant to transform the faces of advertising into a sort of second reality. A reality that is observing us, a parallel world inhabited by replicants who are alien to our daily life.
The large size of the faces projected on the urban landscapes of our houses, their blending themselves with our lives, their becoming the witnesses of our times, all create a sense of confusion and bewilderment.
They are watching us, and not vice-versa. That is the shift: the faces are no longer the medium for goods to be bought, but a sort of permanent superstructure that watches over us. The final result I am aiming for is a reading of metropolitan reality through their eyes, through the glances of mythological creatures.
From a technical point of view, these pictures were created through shop-window reflections. No double exposures nor image compositing were used.
This collection has deliberately been called “The Others”.
